The women of our affinity group spent the
weekend of February 22nd and 23rd planning for the March 8th DC
action. Some of us also planned to take part in a baring witness event
the morning of February 23 near Warren Wilson College in Black
Mountain.
When we arrived, it
was a beautiful but cold morning with light snow. Oddly, no one else
came. We had a digital camera and decided to bare witness anyway,
which prompted an interesting discussion with a local farmer after the
event. We were a bit limited in the shapes we could make, so we opted
for the circle, which represents our connections to all life, and the
yoni, which speaks to our power and responsibility as women to protect
life. So while it isn't the most well planned event, it was beautiful
nonetheless.
